Auditions are now open for our production of Son of Byblos by James Elazzi, presented at Belvoir 25a in July.
To submit your EOI, email us by May 12th at firstname.lastname@example.org with the character you would like to audition for, your resume and preferred time.
Auditions will be held on the 14th and 15th of May from 4:30pm until 7:30pm.
As this is a Belvoir 25a production, the total profit is being divided evenly between all cast and creatives, with a small additional set payment guaranteed by BNW.
Adam, 31, is a second generation Lebanese Australian man. He constantly plays a balancing act with appeasing his family whilst also trying to discover who he is once the veil of cultural sexuality expectations are removed. His self exploration is kept in a separate, hidden world that is cracked open when his cousin Claire decides she is getting married.
Claire, 35, is a second generation Lebanese Australian woman. She is on the verge of changing her life’s trajectory by marrying a man she has met in Lebanon in order to appease the expectations of her family, a decision with high stakes for her friendship with Adam.
Carol, 54, Adam’s mother who came to Australia and married to start a new life. She is a committed and loving mother and wife but has arrived to a point where she is realising she is more than those two traditional roles. She wants more and understands if she begins to change, her current life and family dynamic must also shift.
John, 56, Adam’s father arrived in Australia married and committed to settling down and providing for his young family. As his son Adam begins to find his feet and venture on a path John deems as foreign, tensions arise between the two and John must reevaluate his relationship with Adam. What was established once, isn’t necessarily as strong as he thought, be that his marriage, work and his family.
Angela, (29) is a Lebanese Australian woman who is in her last year of University and she is ready to move out and begin a new chapter in her life. She is also Adam’s ex girlfriend. A once innocent perspective of the world, now woken up by reality and willing to do anything for freedom and independence.
